Leisure Fitness grew more than any other retailer on our list, fueled by a 20 percent increase in samestore sales, officials said. It moved to the No. 3 spot and hinted that more stores are on the way. The Home Fitness Group stabilized in 2011, a year after selling Chicago Home Fitness to the Great Escape and shuttering its North Star and Northern Home Fitness stores. American Home Fitness consolidated one store in Grand Rapids, Mich., while Precor Home Fitness just opened a new store in Cupertino, Calif., which will be reflected on next year’s list. The group is a network of related, albeit separately operated, stores, each with its own co-owner and Scott Egbert involved in them all.
